On 3-4 September 2026, the School of Medicine of the University of Minho hosted the ESD and Third Space Endoscopy Workshop, an advanced training programme dedicated to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and third-space endoscopy.

Directed by Carla Rolanda and Arjun Koch, the course brought together participants and experts for two days of intensive training, combining theoretical sessions, live demonstrations, case discussions and hands-on training with live porcine models.

The programme covered different areas of advanced endoscopy, from ESD in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract to third-space endoscopy, complementing the scientific programme with extensive practical training sessions.

Close interaction between participants and faculty also created an environment of knowledge exchange, discussion and personalised learning, enabling participants to develop and refine their technical skills in a highly practical and specialised setting.
