The Braga Otology Surgery Course had its first launch in a collaboration between Hospital de Braga’s Otorhinolaryngology Department, the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, and B.ACIS Center for Health Innovation.
The first edition of the course took place in the School of Medicine and at ICVS (Life and Health Sciences Research Institute) surgical sciences lab, from May 31st to June 4, in a week full of knowledge sharing, training, and networking. Aiming to provide specific training to otology residents and specialists, this course was structured to incorporate different levels of expertise. Divided into four modalities, participants could apply for Basic, Advanced or Complete Theoretical modalities, or apply for the Full Course modality, having access to hands-on surgery training.
The Braga Otology Surgery Course counted on a greatly committed organizing committee led by Miguel Sá Breda, and an outstanding faculty, composed of national and international ENT specialists, such as Luísa Monteiro, Pedro Escada, João Elói, Victor Correia da Silva, and Miguel Arístegui, Daniele Marchioni and Davide Soloperto.
The course had the scientific endorsement of EAONO, SPORL-CCP, SEORL CCC, and INMLCF, and was accredited with a total of 37 European CME credits by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).
The good feedback from this year’s participants on the training activities developed and the organization of the course is certainly intensifying the desire of the organizing committee to dive into another edition next year. Stay tuned, otology enthusiasts!
